Presidents Corner: March 2026

By Steve Adams

Good day all!

Wherever I raft, I always speak to others on the river and mention I’m with Oregon Whitewater
Association (no matter if I’m on a personal trip or a club trip). Many are not familiar with the
club, so I always give a short spiel about it’s positives and benefits of membership. Many are
familiar with OWA, or may even be members. However, a few have replied “I looked into it and
it’s not for me”.

That gets me thinking. While I know we can’t be everything to everyone, I also know there is
always opportunity to improve. What does OWA do well as a club? But more importantly, what
can we do better??

Club members span multiple generations; are we providing the trips, training, opportunities,
connections, and friendship that people seek? Please share your opinions with me, both what
you like, what we can do better, or what you’d like to see that we don’t offer.

Our pool training session is scheduled for March 11. The March River Rat Sunday trip is
scheduled for the 15 th (meet up at Clackamas River Outfitters in Estacada at 10 a.m. ).
All events can be found on our club calendar, https://mail.oregonwhitewater.org/calendar.
I Look forward to seeing you on a river, or in a meeting, or in one of our classes.

Happy Rafting!
